Redhat.Polarhome.com Problems

Postby evilrico » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:41 pm

Hi guys,

Since the fedora update i cannot run my eggdrop. Is missing a file.

./eggdrop: error while loading shared libraries: libdns.so.53: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I cannot even compile now as it states the compiler on the box is too old to compile eggdrop.

configure: error:

Tcl cannot be found on this system.

Eggdrop requires Tcl to compile. If you already have Tcl installed on
this system, and I just wasn't looking in the right place for it, re-run
./configure using the --with-tcllib='/path/to/libtcl.so' and
--with-tclinc='/path/to/tcl.h' options.

See doc/COMPILE-GUIDE's 'Tcl Detection and Installation' section for more
information.

Any ideas on how long it will take to sort this issue ?

Hello,

server was updated form fc12->fc14 and lot od sharable object were upgraded... you should be able to recompile your application.
If compile does not work, please let me know and I add all needed "devel" packages.

Is there an update on functionality for Redhat? As I understand it, there's some bigger server-wide issues that are taking precedence, but I wanted to make sure that the issues with phpMyAdmin are still on the to-do list.

Yep, I can access phpMyAdmin now. A bit slow-going, but accessible.

Unfortunately the upgrades messed up how our site interacts with the database, somehow, and I don't know PHP well enough to fix it, but I'm trying to find someone I can hire to work on it for us.

Hello,

i do not know much about your site, but the upgrade kept the databases as well as the user content.
If you explain in detail what is your problem exactly maybe I can help you if it is a server side issue.

It might be an outdated code issue, the PHP coding is a few years old and might not be compatible with the upgrades, but that's just a guess.

Basically, the coding allows users to sign into the site with a username and password, which are stored in the database. This allows them access to certain parts of the site they can't get access to. Whenever someone tries to sign in now, it goes to the proper redirect page but doesn't log them in as it had before.

I'm hoping it's just a simple thing, but I don't know PHP well enough to diagnose it, unfortunately. Here's the code, just in case that's of any help:

<?php
ob_start();
//include the header.php file
$title = "New Reno: Log In";
$headertext = "Log In";
include("/home/n/newreno/public_html/templates/header.php");
//Write the login form out
echo "<h2>Log In</h2><br>Please log in with the character name and password you used when registering.<BR><form method=post action=login.php?action=check><table><tr><td><font size=2>Username:</font></td><td><input type=text name=UName></td></tr><tr><td><font size=2>Password:</font></td><td><input type=password name=Password></td></tr><tr><td></td><td><input type=submit value=Login></td></tr></table></form>";
//check the input
if($_GET['action'] == 'check')
{
//find the user
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM characters WHERE Name='{$_POST['UName']}'") or die(mysql_error());
$row = mysql_fetch_array( $result ); //set $row to result
if($row['Name'] == "")
{
echo error();
}
else
{
//$enc = md5($_POST['Password']);
$enc = md5($_POST['Password']);
if($row['Password'] == $enc)
{
$_SESSION['UName'] = $_POST['UName'];
$_SESSION['lp'] = 'pl';
header("Location: main.php");
exit;
}
else
{
echo error();
}
}
}
if($_GET['action'] == 'registered')
{
echo "<b>Registered successfully.</b>";
}
function error()
{
echo "<b>The username/password is incorrect.</b>";
echo "".mysql_error()."";
}
?>
<?php include("/home/n/newreno/public_html/templates/footer.php"); ?>

Hello,

I repaired your mysql tables (myisamchk -r *.MYI)
Restarted the mysql server and the http server and I was able to create an account and log on into the account:
The city of New Reno is changing and evolving as constantly as the mutants that make up more than almost half of the known world's population. Then again, the known world is a bit smaller than it once was. The year 2266, some time after 'The Great Cataclysm', or what some might just refer to as "when the fucking bombs dropped". The American mid-west is an irradiated no-man's land, where everyone has stories of the east coast, but nobody knows for sure. The west coast is something else, though. Four governments rule. The four 'Nations' are alike in dignity in this area that stretches between a dustbowl of Hell and the salty seas of the ocean where our scene is set. Arroyo, a relatively new fledgling nation, which has just grown into it's place, rebuilding after the war it finally grew large enough to be pulled into. Vault City, a technical power house, full of men and women who are, for lack of a better word, part of an extremely aristocratic (in the way that their eyes are somehow always looking down their noses when they view things) nation. San Francisco, a nation of those who only want to go on to live and let live, and in the native Shi's situation, literally. And the New California Republic, or the NCR. A democracy of city-states (known officially as Baronies) who have come together as one. With the newly elected President Marcus Howard running up the Executive branch of the Republic's government, NCR stands as the symbol of rebuilding in this dark world. Where green grass grows, trees sway in the warm breeze, and weapons are little more than a collector's item. ...Unfortunately for us, New Reno isn't in any of these nations.

Please let me know if it is OK now.
Regards,
Z

Doesn't seem to have worked... when one logs in, on the left-hand side, the options change at the bottom to include "Your character", "Shops", "Skill Shops", and "Log Out".

Currently, the login page redirects to "main.php", but still doesn't log in.

Not sure if it's all of Redhat or if it's just the http://polarhome.com:793/ branch of it, but it's down.

We're getting the "too many connections" error again after Redhat came back up.

Sorry for late reply...
Indeed, phpmyadmin had some problems after the Fedora 13 upgrade... but it has been solved and now it works well.
