Debian Package Requests

Postby hcbowman_debian » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:32 pm

Hi Everyone,

I just logged in using my new shell account. Woot!

How does one request that packages be installed on the Debian system? It would be great to have emacs21, and gcj installed.

Thanks,

Cliff

hi,

The following new packages had be installed:
emacs emacs21 emacs21-el fastjar gcj gcj-4.1 gij libgcj7-awt libgcj7-dev libgcj7-jar

I am sorry for not having emacs installed by default - but polarhome is a well known pro vi site, therefore vi is installed on every host and emacs, like any other development tool, is added just on user request.

It is funny that this host survived without emacs so many years. This tells a lot about debian users. :)

Please do not take this comment personally - I am just kidding :)

You are welcome Cliff.
Regards,
Z

Great! Thanks for the new packages, and sorry for the trouble.

Emacs vs. vi? Oh, I don't have the energy for religious debate... :)

Could you please install pico & nano as these are the text editros i like to use because the most closely replicate either wordpad 9windows0 or text edit (mac).
