Is the open proxy that's causing my Eggdrop connection problems that which is used to access Polarhome's IRC network? I'm getting the following:

[21:21] -ERROR from server- Closing Link: 0.0.0.0 (Open Proxy found on your host. HTTP(8080) (2004/12/09 22.49))
[21:21] Disconnecting from server.

Any ideas?

The IRC proxy on polarhome is NOTHING to do with irc.polarhome.com.

The user running their bnc on port 8080 MUST KILL it otherwise you will get open proxy message.

I was under the impression Zoli was going to firewall 8080.

Try emailling support@polarhome.com saying your bot is being klined for open proxy on port 8080 which isnt you.

There was similar problem when connecting to Quakenet with polarhome shell. Is it taken care of yet?

At heart, it's the same problem.

we need those proxy ports firewalled, sadly - zoli is a busy man.

I got banned from all EFNet servers today

irc.he.net- *** Banned Temporary K-line 1440 min. - DNSBL listed. Check ircnet.com/cgi-bin/bl.cgi?ip=83.227.153.76 for removal. (2006/6/1 09.37)

Hi,

I have spoken with an efnet oper friend who can confirm the ban is not existant anymore and must have been caused by a user binding to a "common" proxy port listening for all connections.

I have also tested the servers pasted in the post and can confirm it is removed there too.

I would advise ALL users who set up psybnc etc to configure it to only accept connections for your IP.

Cannot connect to EFnet server, says the ip is banned because of proxies.

can you talk tp them again?

I managed to connect to one EFnet server!
hope they don't find any proxis now.
