... otherwise I started to raise user quotas from 20M to 50M. On redhat it has been done already.
Slowly every polarhome host will be upgraded.

nice,i see that the user qoutas raised today, thats the good side.. but, i see that dns resolving is not working.. what's messed up? i couldn't connect my bots,to i had to resolve lots of efnet servers and find some, where are not auto-klines on polarhome(se) host...
and also i got erroer while compiling eggdrop (some modules errors)... when this should be ok? :/

hmm, dont want to start an ew topic,so i will still post here:
looks like that when the user quotas were raised, somethign messed up,because,as i posted above, dns resolving is not working and the compress module neither (not sure about this mod. but it gave me error when compiling egg)
Code: Select all
[09:57:46] --< sandos >-- [09:57] Trying server irc.efnet.nl:6667
[09:58:27] --< sandos >-- [09:58] Failed connect to irc.efnet.nl (DNS lookup failed)
[09:58:28] --< sandos >-- [09:58] Trying server irc.daxnet.no:6667
[09:59:11] --< sandos >-- [09:59] Failed connect to irc.daxnet.no (DNS lookup failed)

this is going on and on and on... i had to resolve them to IPs, so i could connect it,but... :/

hi,

problem is fixed.

There were updated some package (resolver) that needed some extra configuration - that I missed to do.

Now it should be OK - at least DNS.

hmm are you sure? i tried to change server, but the error is still the same:
Code: Select all
[17:35:39] --< sandos >-- [17:35] Trying server irc.mzima.net:6667
[17:36:21] --< sandos >-- [17:36] Failed connect to irc.mzima.net (DNS lookup failed)
[17:36:22] --< sandos >-- [17:36] Trying server efnet.xs4all.nl:6667
[17:37:04] --< sandos >-- [17:37] Failed connect to efnet.xs4all.nl (DNS lookup failed)

etc..

and i also get error when compiling it:
Code: Select all
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/n/ninjin/eggdrop1.6.17/src/mod/dns.mod'
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `modules'.  Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/n/ninjin/eggdrop1.6.17/src/mod/dns.mod'

hi,
seems that server is down:
Code: Select all
zoli@debian:~$ ping efnet.xs4all.nl
PING efnet.xs4all.nl (194.109.129.220): 56 data bytes

--- efnet.xs4all.nl ping statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
zoli@debian:~$ ping www.yahoo.com
PING www.yahoo.akadns.net (68.142.226.40): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 68.142.226.40: icmp_seq=0 ttl=52 time=121.5 ms
64 bytes from 68.142.226.40: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=123.4 ms
64 bytes from 68.142.226.40: icmp_seq=2 ttl=52 time=122.6 ms

--- www.yahoo.akadns.net ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 121.5/122.5/123.4 ms

...also I compiled without errors (from cvs) an 1.6.18

If you have such problems, use the system wide eggdrop from /home/e/eggdrop/

lol? server down? all efnet servers down? i let the egg connect and go through the serverlist i completed into config and it just gave me the same error..
and btw,iam using the system eggdrop as well, and it said just the same error...

now it is working, i will just try to compile it again,i hope it will be working, when the connection works...

hmmm - still the same errors: see screenshots ( 1 | 2 | 3 )

and by the way,i dont know why,but the system eggdrop keeps closing connection (quit message: "Remote host closed the connection") ,don't know why..and i also don't know, how to setup the botchk for the system egg :/

I am not an IRC expert, therefore I can not help you really.

I just guess - that efnet banned polarhome :(

noo thats wrong as well, i have the bots connected, but they just connect only when i type in the IP adress, not the host... then it's ok,otherwise they can't resolve it,so it must be some error with dns (and as you can see on the screenshots) and with the compress module... all was working ok until the user quota raising...

DNS works fine on debian (I connected to efnet.xs4all.nl using irssi). But I got banned because of open proxy:
15:52 !efnet.xs4all.nl *** Looking up your hostname...
15:52 !efnet.xs4all.nl *** Checking Ident
15:53 !efnet.xs4all.nl *** Got Ident response
15:53 !efnet.xs4all.nl *** Found your hostname
15:53 !efnet.xs4all.nl *** Banned Open Proxy found on your IP 83.227.153.76 .
Please check your system and fix it.
15:53 -!- ERROR Closing Link: 127.0.0.1 (*** Banned )
15:53 -!- Irssi: Connection lost to efnet.xs4all.nl
