Code: Select all
mb@redhat~$ finger -m din

mb@redhat~$ ps -u din

mb@redhat~$ netstat -ae | grep din

mb@redhat~$

If your username is "din" and your account is on redhat than your eggdrop doesn't seem to be listening on any port. My guess is that something is wrong with the configuration. Check the logs and the .config
Though you seem to be connecter to uk.ircnet.org.

The reason it might not work is:
∙φ∙ Connecting to port 6667 of server uk.ircnet.org [refnum 93]
∙φ∙ Please wait while we process your connection to uk.ircnet.org.
∙φ∙ You have not registered
∙φ∙ Closing Link: mb_[unknown@84.218.21.168] (Unauthorized connection)

I would rather try sweedish servers BUT since we don't have i-lines at the moment I dubdt that you'll get a connection through.

I'm quite sure you have one running.
I't would help if I had acces to your home directory but sadly only the root user can do this.

Something is fishy with identd. I'll let Zoli know.

The problem is that you'll have a VERY hard time connectig to ircnet or any other big irc network from here. Polarhome lost it's irc i-lines (the abbility to have more that a few (normaly 1-3) connections to an irc server/network) due to an IP change.

I don't suggest you that even when (if...) we got I-line back. As far I remember Polarhome don't have permission for bots on IRCnet. I think that we got from *.se side I-line for ONE connection per user, but bots are forbidden. It is written somewhere on those pages if I am not wrong.

hi,

seems oidentd could not listen on several ports in masq mode. The process just simply dies.

Now I specified the listening address - and it seems to work... at least the process is alive.

I have no idea. Use another irc network. Ircnet is out of question.

Polarhome had i-lines. I've asked irc-se myself for them. BUT since users behaved badly the ISP shut down polarhome's old ADSL line and we lost all IP-related benefits that we had.

Polarhome uses a HE ipv6 tunnel and they block those ports. I have no idea why Zoli chose HE but I guess he had a reason. It would probably be a lot of work migrating all servers to a different broker but you can ask him if you're feeling lucky and have a good reason for it.
I would rather suggest www.sixxs.net. They even have a locl pop in Stockholm, Sweeden - http://www.sixxs.net/pops/port80/.
