how would I install a php extension (the xslt extension, for example)? Would I need a sheel account? phpinfo() says to use urpmi, but I don't know how to use that.

Regardless what type of account you have - Only root can install php extensions.

By the mention of urpmi, i assume you're using Mandrake?
What extension would you need, in that case?

I wanted to use the xslt extension, and yes, I am using mandrake.
