heya all,

sorry to bother you all but this is really freakin me out?!

i have an account with redhat.polarhome.com and i can log in and use aceftp fine, although with my mandrake.polarhome.com account i can log in but it always comes up with "directory does not exist" and "opperation timmed out, connection closed" errors. I have no idea why this is but i would really love to know why?... plz someone help me... thanks soo much

Hmm

sounds like a line congestion problem, had my share of those in the past few days..

i'll try QOS'ing the ftp and other service ports, that should bring the response times to a usable value.

let me know if it works.

ohh and a bit off topic but great work on the mandrake website... it has proably been up for ages now but i have been under a rock for the last month and have had no internet access. tumbs-up

ohk tried just then and i get the same thing

ok im guessing now that it has something to do with this "Passive Mode"???
yea? or no? lol anyway lets see what the master can work out

Yeh and chazzeh here uploaded 600kb or so, seemed to work fine.

[fyi, i didn't QOS the ftp ports just yet, odd]

my conclusion;
you were connecting at one of those times when 50 users browse their "200kb top logo" forums.

Turn Passive Mode off. Simple answer.

I use flashfxp but didnt need to disable passive here (PASV).

It may sound dumb, but it seems to me that you have set remote directory to /public_html/gallery

Leave this field blank and try again.

CWD has confirmed this exists so i doubt thats the problem.

PASV is the problem hence the timeout, if you disable PASV it will run the ls and will work.
