Yes, you are right - I did not want to express that opinion together with the xmas greeting - but this is the truth.
I do not think either that any new year will be a year of shell. The shell is declining and the GUI is raising. This is the trend - and we need to accept it.
...also the truth is that there will be may years to come to skip the shell totally. Most of the software that is used in the GUI is still build in shell. The shell is still the basic UI of the operating systems and the GUI is just the user front end for everything else.
Therefore, if you are a core developer - you will stick to the shell anyway - and if you are an end user you'll never need to see a shell (especially that is rather dark there anyway)
