software request for solaris: dtksh

Postby cjpinon_solaris » Tue Dec 08, 2015 5:37 pm

Hi,

Apparently, the modern version of ksh (ksh93) on Solaris (at least Solaris 10) is dtksh, and not ksh:

https://community.oracle.com/thread/2363447

Would it be possible to install dtksh on solaris? (It comes with the desktop environment -- hence "dt".)

Thanks,
C.

It wasn't obvious how to determine the version of ksh on solaris (the standard ways failed), but this finally worked:

$ ksh
$ set -o vi
Then: Esc Ctrl+v
$ Version M-11/16/88i

Which confirms that ksh on solaris is ksh88.

Thanks, Zoli.

It's funny: I think that my memories of using ksh93 in the past are fonder than the reality -- I'm afraid that it's hard to beat bash for interactive use!
