IRC i-line requests

Postby Matej » Wed Jul 20, 2005 11:15 pm

Here you can write the irc servers/networks that you want us to ask for i:lines (the ability to run more than one client per IP).

Please, provide the network name, eventual link to rules (if polarhome does not fulfil the requirements) and the admin's e-mail.

*note: You need a forum account to post. Register here.

You can find a list of available i:lines and requests already in progress HERE.

Now it`s up and running. I hope you`ll find the admins, and I hope they`ll help to get the i line.
BTW: how can we, simple users, help in obtaining an i line?

sorry, here is the issue:

the eggdrop from polar being autokill by dalnet reason being Clones. But the problem, i believe is due to polarhome has only one IP right? So whenever many polarhome users with different ident connect to dalnet. this will make dalnet k-line the host eventhough all valid users.

how to get dalnet to stop doing this?

i spoke to the dalnet ppl online and the yask the host to send request by contact form here: http://www.dal.net/admin/contactkline.php3

thanks

This is what I posted on Undernet's Forum! I'm really curious what their answer will be.

Hi.

Maybe you know about it or maybe not... anyway I will briefly present it to you.
Quote:

polarhome.com is non commercial, educational effort for popularization of shell enabled operating systems and Internet services, offering shell accounts, mail and other online services on all available systems (currently on Linux, OpenVMS, Solaris, AIX, QNX, IRIX, HP-UX, Tru64, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD ).

...by time polarhome.com became a demo site for Linux power and other Unix like systems popularization; symbol of online freedom, speech, feelings, activities and multiplatform open source development.

I'm using it's services for more than a year now and I say - without any axaggeration - that the guys there are doing a wonderfull work. The only problem is that Polarhome has only one IP and you know what that means when we're talking about so many systems.

My question is: is there any chance that Undernet's admins give Polarhome I-lines?

Website: www.polarhome.com
Forum: www.polarhome.com/forum/
Contact: support@polarhome.com

PS: Polarhome already has I-line on IRCnet, DALnet, Quakenet and GRNet. It would be awfully nice to have on Undernet too

A fast reply from a user named Mitko:

Well, it depends of the server admin. To see the Undernet server list go HERE ( http://www.undernet.org/servers.php ). There are mentioned some of the server admins. To find more info about the admin of a server, connect to it and type /admin . Don't forget to check the /MOTD first, since some servers include "Do not ask for I:lines" in their motd. Note that an I:line is not network-wide, it applies to the server where it is set only. Good luck.

Best Regards,
Mit.

So if I'm not mistaking, every server has it's own policy about I-lines, we/you should connect to one of the Undernet servers and contact it's administrator. I say stockholm.se.eu.undernet.org is worth to try, but first I want to know what do you think.

/OFF
We have 5000 registered users <<< That is awesome
/ON

hi,

I think this is an excellent idea... unfortnately I do not have time for these kind of conversation.

... but if you take this responsibility and find an admin and convince him to open some i-lines - you will get all needed official polarhome support from my side.
Regards,
Z

Okay. I'll give my best to convince them. Now all I need is to make myself some free time.
I'll let you know what's the situation as soon as I managed to resolv something.
