ypcat(1nis)

ypcat -- print values in an NIS map

Synopsis

ypcat [-k] [-d ypdomain] mname

ypcat -x

Description

The ypcat command prints out values in the Network Information Service (NIS) map specified by mname, which may be either a map name or a map alias.

Usage

Since ypcat uses the NIS network services, no NIS server is specified.

Refer to ypfiles(4nis) and ypserv(1Mnis) for an overview of the NIS service.

Options

ypcat takes the following options:

-d ypdomain
Specify a domain other that the default domain.

-k
Display the keys for those maps in which the values are null or the key is not part of the value. None of the maps derived from files that have an ASCII version in /etc fall into this class.

-x
Display map aliases. This lists the aliases (mnames) the command knows of, and indicates the map name associated with each alias.
