Software Installation and Maintenance Context-Sensitive Helps

The context-sensitive helps in this file are used by both the SMIT and Web-Based System Manager applications.

Specify the name you want to use to represent this machine in the NIM environment. A machine's NIM name is not necessarily the same as its host name. The machine name is used to identify the machine in all NIM operations.

The name you choose must be unique among NIM objects, and it must comply with these restrictions:


Specify the host name of the NIM master.


Specify information you want to associate with this machine or the operation being performed. Consider recording the date and time, and the name of the user performing the action. The information you supply may be helpful to future administrators of the same NIM environment.


Lists the installation history of a software product. This information consists of the latest installation action and its completion status for the specified product and its updates.


Lists all software products that are requisites for a specified software product. A requisite software product is one that is required in order for another software product to function.


Lists all software products that are dependent upon a specified software product. A dependent software product is one that requires the specified product or update to be installed before or at the same time it is installed.


Lists all the file names that were installed with the specified software product.


If the device is a tape drive and the tape drive is different than the tape drive used to create this backup, the tape block size may be different than the tape block size setting when the backup was created. If you believe this is the case and you select Yes for this option, the block size information saved in your backup is checked and, if necessary, the tape block size is changed. It is reset to the original value at the end of the operation.


Displays license agreements for all software installed on the system.


Displays license agreements for selected software installed on the system.


Displays the text of the license agreement for the selected software.


This dialog allows you to list license agreements associated with software contained installation media.


Select this option if the software is located on a tape, CD-ROM, or diskette.


Select Yes to accept the license agreement and install the software. Select No to reject the license agreement and cancel the installation.


Previews the installation requirements of the selected software. Select Yes to display the list of software that will installed, prerequisites, information on space requirements, and results of the pre-installation check. Select No to begin the installation.


Lists selected software to install. Select software by entering fileset name level pairs or by selecting from a list.
