Ive tried some of the other servers and changed the ports respectively when doing so but cant seem to connect to Polarhome's IRC network. Someone clue me up on this?

When I try and connect to irc://irc.polarhome.com:8080 using chatzilla I'm told:

I have registered though. Ftp, not shell though. Is this only open for shell users?

The IRC server doesn't know if you're a shell or an FTP user. that message comes up due to some error.

my suggestion; mIRC / IRSSI / BitchX / XChat
Plenty of very good IRC clients around, no need to use sub-standard crap like chatzilla

Hes trying to use the public proxy on port 8080 not the irc server port 6667.

yes, that's right. Should it work for me?

I'm also trying xchat, but not getting any better results:

* Looking up irc.polarhome.com
* Connecting to gate.polarhome.com (81.216.198.11) port 8080...
* Connected. Now logging in...
* Disconnected (Connection reset by peer).

I dont know if that even exists anymore. Best bet is to get a shell and setup your own bnc.

I think its firewalled.

People often forget that the whole polarhome network is ran by 1 person with a family + child as well as a fulltime career.

The likes of the mods/admins on the forums, we dont have access to anything other than yourself except for denis with mandrake as he owns it.

Hy, I'm new to polarhome, but I would like to know when or if the server (bnc service) will be fixed because I don't want to look for a shell account right now because they cost... and I would really want to use polarhome's services. Thanks!
