<span style='color:red'>
I think this is URGENT</span>

I cannot login to OpenVMS Alpha - I see the message
"license has terminated"
Could a privileged user please try the command

$ SHOW LICENSE

and check what it says in the right-most column
(under "termination date")

... Do it <span style='color:red'>BEFORE</span> the next reboot!

Oh and by-the-way: Congratulations on reaching 90 days uptime!

I emailed support@alpha.polarhome.com.
Hopefully that gets forwarded to Zoli>)

The same thing happens logging in to user GUEST on the VAX
(I guess the passwords had the same expiration date, or someone de-installed the relevant licence{s})

MikeR.

P.S. the "privileged user" in my O.P. will probably have to login on the system console. That means physical access to the system, which leaves it up to Z.

Well, Zoli handled problem on Alpha;
<span style='color:blue'>Many thanks!!</span>

Licenses are now OK till May, 2005.

VAX is unreachable (09:10 GMT) so I suppose its being handled (probably down...?...)

Also have QOTD server back up on port 3017
(its actually quote-of-the-moment, not -of-the-day, and the standard port would be 17)

Sorry... but this "once per year task" is really easy to forget.

Thanks to Mike's script it is possible to track and send alarms when licences expire.

Sorry for caused inconvenience .
Regards,
Z

@Zoli:
Please check thye 3 lines in the sript, esp. that the name of the license is spelled right (e.g. "-" or "_" etc.)

Sorry 'bout that :(
