Usermin is abused by spammers... so far I do not have any solution.

If anybody else has a solution how to enable usermin but in the same way avoid abuse - please let me know.

Z

Hi Zoli.
Is it possible for you to open Redhat Usermin only for members with a shell account?

Hello,

It looks like a good idea.
I'll test and come back with the answer soon (read during the weekend)

Hello,
Have you tested the access for shell accounts members?
Best regards

Please read the news on polarhome.com's index.

2008.09.03 polarhome hosts are disconnected until we find what traffic triggers closing the uplink from ISP's side. Also, I am personally interested to find that nerd who caused that 100,000 innocent polarhome users can not reach their services. root@polarhome.com.

Hello Zoli,
I can see that Redhat is in full function again, so have you tested the access to Usermin for shell account members?
Best regards

Hello,

I haven't forgotten this... it is a good idea, but usermin is rather easy to abuse. And onece abused, the whole polarhome can be banned or mail delivery disallowd or even the ISP can cut the line again.

I would like to take this issue very carefully after what happeded a week or so ago.
Polarhome runs on two ADSL lines. If the second ISP cuts the line the polrhome will be down for a while. I do not think that this is in our interest.

Sorry for bad news.
Regards,
Z

It may be easier if we establish what the user wishes Usermin for and to see whether we can provide it through another less insecure means.
