Read the news on the main page, sadly openbsd is toast.

back up or still down?

Postby theclove_openbsd » Tue Feb 01, 2005 6:27 am

The news page says OpenBSD was put back up at the beginning of the month, but I can't login via FTP. I've tried dozens of options from the port forward list, and get the most success from trying to login to ftp.polarhome.com, but it always tells me my password is wrong (i know I am typing it in right) I can login to webmin & the web email, so my account is active.

2005.01.02 openbsd: is back with version 3.6. Recovery wasn't an easy task. Earlier version 3.0 is not supported any more - more over, these versions are binary not compatible. Therefore, users need to recompile their programs in order to achieve earlier functionality.

edit, more info:
I am signed up for only the ftp account, and am trying to login using WS FTP on Win 2k. If OpenBSD is not working, can my account be transfered to another server?

thanks :D

If you've only got an FTP account, just make another account on another server and transfer your files.

hi,

try to use passive mode - it helps in normal situations.

in the automated email sent to my account from root, it says that OpenBSD is for Shell accounts only. i hope someone posts that on the news page or something. ive signed up on the redhat server now, so it's all good.

hi,

this "for shell users only" is a mistake.
I wrote that message for years ago, when that box was an P66.

openBSD is open as any other polarhome system - it means that all hosts follow the policy.
