Setting up e-mail on Thunderbird 2.0

Postby birberto » Tue Jul 22, 2008 3:07 pm

Hi. I own a shell account on Polarhome Debian and I'm trying to set it up in Thunderbird. Incoming settings are OK, I managed to configure IMAP, but I have problem with the outgoing settings. Following the information in the port-forwarding guide the settings look like this:

With these settings when trying to send an e-mail mail.polarhome.com keeps asking the password and evethough I enter it correctly it's not sending. It keeps on asking and asking for the pass.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I have to redefine my first sentence: I'm trying to set up my mail account not my shell. :)

I'm still on Thunderbird 0.3! Wow, embarrassing.

Anyway, based on my back-level-but-functional Thunderbird configuration, I think you need to set the port to 756 and the user name under "Security and Authentication" to halal@mail.polarhome.com. There should be a place somewhere else to enter your e-mail address halal@debian.polarhome.com.
