Polarhome servers

Zoli, of the now 33(!) Polarhome servers, which are running in their own physical boxes and which are virtual or running in a simulator like SIMH?

Linux/RedHat - Virtualbox
Linux/Debian - Virtualbox
Linux/SuSE - Virtualbox
Linux/Ubuntu - Virtualbox
Linux/CentOS - Virtualbox
Linux/Mandriva - Virtualbox
OpenBSD - Virtualbox
FreeBSD - Virtualbox
NetBSD - Virtualbox
Dragonfly - Virtualbox
MirOS/BSD - Virtualbox
GNU Hurd - Virtualbox
OpenVMS/Alpha -alphaVM
OpenVMS/IA64 - real HW
OpenVMS/VAX - SIMH
Ultrix/VAX - SIMH
UnixWare - Virtualbox
OpenServer - Virtualbox
HPUX/IA64 - real HW
HPUX/PA - real HW
Tru64 - alphaVM
IRIX: - real HW
QNX - Virtualbox
AIX7 - real HW
AIX5 - real HW
Solaris/SPARC - real HW
Solaris/x86 - Virtualbox
OpenIndiana - Virtualbox
Raspbian/RPi - real HW
Pidora/RPi -real HW
Minix/x86 - Virtualbox
MacOSX - Real HW
Debian/ppc - Real HW
OPENSTEP - Virtualbox
Syllable - Virtualbox

VM operation is very convenient - easy backup, resource tuning... and sometimes restoring the older status - and what is the most important less eletricity.
However... polarhome still runs on almost 10A (230V). There is no possibility to add some real HW servers because the fuse is 10A.

The current status is shown here http://www.polarhome.com/service/status/

Amazing what can be done with virtualization. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

Zoli, I can't imagine how you manage all of that networking without going crazy. ;-)

It is fun to know 30+ operating systems. They are all special on their way.
My favourites are OpenVMS and AIX that win with a horse-length in front of modern Linuxes in administration and OS management - the pity is that they need very special hardware :(

So I guess that I had the right intuition when I opened an AIX7 account a week ago. :-)

By the way, is there any virtualization possibility for AIX7?

hahaha yes, on an AIX server itself... but you cannot emulate PowerPC that would run AIX.

How many physical boxes does that make running at Polarhome? One each for VirtualBox, AlphaVM, SIMH, plus the real HW boxes (OpenVMS/IA64, HPUX/IA64, HPUX/PA, IRIX,
AIX7, AIX5, Solaris/SPARC, Raspbian/RPi, Pidora/RPi, MacOSX, Debian/ppc) (14 boxes)?

Do you have any more recent photos of the Polarhome data center?
