Just huge applications that needs to logically separate data content with complicate locking and load sharing needs might need that.

In general, one database with good design and table naming convention would do the job in almost every "polarhome" application case.

You can get yet another database if you have a good reason for it.

Sorry - I did'nt understand whether the O.P wanted another MySQL database, or a different type of database altogether (like ISAM, or RMS...)

seems the forum database was corrupt... it happens from time to time, and as soon it is observed and admin will fix it.
